Life Hope Rehabilitation Organization (LHRO) has successfully empowered 200 individuals economically, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and improve their quality of life. Among these beneficiaries, 150 are men and 50 are women, each equipped with the skills, resources, and opportunities needed to achieve financial independence and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Over the past 19 years, Life Hope Rehabilitation Organization (LHRO) has made significant strides in expanding access to rehabilitation services across Tanzania. Through unwavering commitment, community partnerships, and dedicated staff, LHRO has successfully established three rehabilitation centers in Mwanza, Bagamoyo, and Mbeya.

Collectively, these centers have supported and rehabilitated more than 2,200 individuals struggling with substance abuse and related social challenges. Each facility has served as a safe space for healing and transformation, offering comprehensive programs that include medical care, counseling, skills development, and social reintegration support.

Looking ahead, LHRO is committed to expanding its impact even further. In the near future, we plan to open a Sober House for women in Mwanza, providing a safe and supportive environment dedicated to helping women recover, rebuild, and reintegrate into society with dignity and confidence.

Life Hope Rehabilitation Organization (LHRO) currently operates one fully established Children’s Shelter, providing a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable and abandoned children. The shelter offers more than just a place to stay—it provides protection, education, emotional support, and the foundation for a better future.

In addition to caring for abandoned and vulnerable children, LHRO’s shelter also supports children affected psychologically, survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), those struggling with or recovering from drug abuse, and children from families affected by substance abuse. By addressing these complex challenges, the organization helps restore dignity and stability in the lives of young people facing deep emotional and social hardships.

Recognizing the growing number of children in need across Tanzania, LHRO is committed to expanding its reach by establishing additional children’s shelters in other regions of the country. These future shelters aim to ensure that no child is left without care, safety, or the opportunity to thrive.

The Importance of Children’s Shelters

Children’s shelters play a critical role in:

  • Providing Safety and Protection: They offer immediate rescue from abuse, neglect, and street life.

  • Restoring Hope: Through counseling and care, children regain confidence, trust, and a sense of belonging.

  • Supporting Education and Growth: Shelters ensure access to schooling, life skills, and mentorship, helping children build a better future.

  • Reducing Vulnerability: By offering stability and guidance, shelters reduce the risks of child exploitation, psychological trauma, and substance abuse.

Through continuous effort, partnerships, and community support, LHRO envisions a Tanzania where every child—regardless of their background—has access to safety, love, and opportunity.
